Show me your ways, O LORD,

teach me your paths:

guide me in your truth and teach me,

for you are God my Saviour,

and my hope is in you

all day long.

Psalm 25:4,5

Our Purpose

Members of the Churches of Christ have operated Camp Omagh since the late 1930’s, as a place for spiritual growth in a Christ centered environment. We believe spiritual growth is essential for all Christians. This is accomplished when people develop themselves through learning and practicing Christian teachings. As Christian principles are taught and lived, commitment to Christ follows. We recognize that in the dramatically changing world of the 21st century, people need encouragement to live for Christ. We believe Camp Omagh has been and will remain an effective tool for Christ, and will continue to provide encouragement for young and old alike.

Camp Omagh is supported by members of the Omagh Bible School Corporation. The Corporation elects, from among its members, eleven people to serve on the Board of Directors. The directors oversee the operation of the camp, giving attention to both spiritual and physical needs.

If you are interested in the becoming a Corporation Member, please complete a Corporation Membership Form and mail it to the specified address along with your membership fee.

All the great programs that take place at Camp Omagh would not be possible without the hard work of all our wonderful volunteers.  If you would like to be a camp volunteer, please fill out our Volunteer Application Form.

The Story of Camp Omagh

During the late 1930’s, Mr. & Mrs. William Johnstone, Christians and members of the Church of Christ in Omagh, a village southeast of Milton Ontario, invited young people from area cities to their farm for a few days of vacation with their own children in a Christian surrounding. Mr. & Mrs. Alex Stewart were asked by the Johnstones to help them. Mr. Stewart taught daily Bible classes.

In 1943, in the midst of World War II, their vision grew when Camp Omagh was incorporated as Omagh Bible School Corporation. Corporation members whose lives are Christ centered have continuously supported Omagh.

Since those early days, Camp Omagh’s growth on land donated by the Johnstones has continued with the addition of well-equipped facilities. Dormitories, washrooms, staff accommodations, playing fields, a swimming pool, dining hall, craft area and a modern kitchen serve as examples of the commitment of Omagh’s membership and service to young people.  Most importantly, the Johnstone’s dream of providing a strong Christian influence on young people continues into the 21st century as the Bible remains at the heart of all camp activities.

If you have any pictures, videos, or other artifacts from your time at camp, please let our Camp Historian know.  We want to keep a record of all the great times people have had at Camp Omagh.
